The pain of growing your hair

So…you want to grow your hair? Well if you are just starting be prepared to wait a while. I have been growing mines out for 3 years, from a chin length bob to what is now mid length/touching my bra strap. I still have another 6 inch to wait for where I want it to be though.  I have recently invested in a few tips and tricks to speed the process up though which I will list below –

  • ·         Hair Growth Shampoo/Treatment/Conditioner  – I have been using Lee Stafford’s Hair Growth Treatment and shampoo and conditioner for the past month and a half. The bottle claims to improve the health of your scalp therefore stimulating follicles and promoting hair growth! I don’t know if my hair has actually grown using these products but I do think that the overall health of my hair has improved and leaves it nice and soft.

  • ·         Vitamins and Biotin –  It is so important to take vitamins to ensure your body (and hair) is getting all the vitamins and goodness they need to stay healthy.  Its important to take a well balanced  multi vitamin to ensure you are getting the right recommended dosage of each mineral and vitamin.  I take two of Chewable A-Z Multivitamins and Minerals from Superdrugs own brand. I also take one Biotin tablet as it “helps support the maintenance of hair and its growth”.image

  • ·         Stimulating hair follicles – As previously mentioned in “The Discovery Of Coconut Oil”, it is also important to make sure you are stimulating your hair follicles. This can be by taking some coconut oil and melting it between your fingers then massaging it into your scalp. Another method I have previously used is taking some nutmeg (told you I was desperate for long hair!) and mixing it with the coconut oil to give it and extra boost! Plus you’ll smell as Christmas. Do this for a good five minutes then leave in your hair for an hour and rinse out.

  • ·         Stay away from heat  – This one is definitely a hard one for me as my hair is naturally mental. Heat damages our hair so if you want to grow your hair then it is important to not inflict any damage on it because it could result in dry brittle hair resulting in breaking. Definitely not what you want when you are growing it.image

Do you have any other tips and tricks that work for you? Let me know:)

More to come!

Hello my lovelies!

Just posting to let you know that there wil be another post up tonight all about hair growth and what you can do to promote it! There may also be a link in my next post to my very first make up tutorial on every day make up, exciting!

The Discovery Of Coconut Oil

After doing a bit of research into hair health I discovered coconut oil. This tub (as tiny as it may seem) has many health benefits as well as economic ones as it lasts forever!

There are many ways to use this super oil, I like to massage it into my scalp to stimulate my hair follicles for a good 5 mins, then leave it in for an hour before washing my hair, leaving my hair super shiny.

Another way to make your hair look coco-mazing is to take a tiny bit of it and melt it in between your fingers then seal the ends of your hair with it to lock in moisture.

There are also many other beauty benefits including –

Maintaining healthy and youthful looking skin as it is full of vitamin E.

Make up remover – use with a moist cotton ball to wipe off any make up. Not only does this remove make up but it also leaves skin silky smooth!

Body scrub – take some coconut oil and mix with brown sugar to create a sweet smelling scrub that will leave your skin fresh and nourished.

I’ve been using this oil for a few weeks now and can definitely see a difference in the health of my hair, definitely a good investment.

And its only £2.29!

The Greatest Invention Since GHD’s!

Having fought with my naturally mad curly hair ever since I can remember, I was relieved when I received a pair of GHD’s to put me out of my frizz control product buying misery and straighten my hair to within an inch of its life! However that being said I did miss my curls and no matter how much I tried, couldn’t work a curling iron to save my life. That is until I discovered the Babyliss Curl Secret.

Words can not describe how excited I was waiting for this product to arrive in the post or how many YouTube videos I watched imaging how amazing my hair would look once I received it.

The product has 3 settings – 3 heat settings, the time you would like your hair to be curled for ( 12,10 and 8 secs) and a setting allowing you to rotate which way you would like your curls to face. Meaning that no matter what your hair type pretty much anyone can use this and create perfect angel curls or soft beach waves depending on what settings you have selected.

After a bit of trial and error and getting over the amazement of my hair being sucked into this miracle machine and coming out looking like its about to star in its own hair commercial, I have put away my straighteners. After using them every day to create a look that was only ever mediocre anyway, I  finally have the choice of having big glamorous curls (my favorite setting!) or soft beach waves as well as sleek smooth straight hair. I cannot recommend it enough, my curls last all day and helps me create a nice look for a big night out. Just remember to keep it a secret though.
